Building Relationships with Law Enforcement to Better Understand and Deal with Child Protection Issues
The U.S. Department of State’s Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) is the most widely represented U.S. law enforcement agency in the world with over 2000 special agents working in over 170 countries. Through its Criminal Investigative Liaison Branch, DSS provides security guidance, briefings, and law enforcement support to the Office of Overseas Schools on matters pertaining to student safety, child protection, and law enforcement coordination.
The abuse and exploitation of children is a global problem that continues to evolve and grow. Despite the significant resources that international schools invest to provide their students a safe and caring learning environment, collaboration is critical to ensuring that educators have the help they need to protect children from these threats.
DSS’s worldwide presence makes it a valuable partner and information resource for international schools on matters of child protection. As such, Mr Jess will offer advice on how partnering with law enforcement, NGOs, and others can bolster school protection programs.
