NESA Math League

Art Radtke (left) & NESA Exec. Director David Chojnacki. The NESA Math League began 20 years ago (1988) to promote interest and enthusiasm for math and to develop problem solving abilities through school-vs-school competition. During the 2008-2009 school year 30 schools covering an area from Egypt to Bangladesh, took part in the challenges.

The competition takes place four times a year, from September to March, and consists of six questions which students work on individually during regular math classes with a time limit of 30 minutes. The top five scores in each division (gr. 7-8, 9-10, & 11-12) are submitted for the school’s team score. Certificates are presented at the NESA Spring Educators Conference to first- through third-place schools, with plaques awarded to first and second-place schools.
