Compassion Summit 2017: Keying off of the amazing work of Karen Armstrong (winner of the TED Prize and the "Charter for Compassion"), the American Community School of Amman will be hosting a "Compassion Summit" next March. Here is a preliminary announcement about the event, being jointly planned by ACS's Larry McIlvain and Tara Waudby from ISG in Dhahran.
One does not have to look far to see the need for a continued focus in our schools for promoting compassion. Many of us have this concept built into our schools Mission and already promote it in the school ethos.
As we work with our students to continue to build an ethos of compassion, the American Community School- Amman and the International Schools Group, Saudi Arabia, in partnership with the Charter for Compassion are inviting your school to participate in an inaugural Compassion Summit.
The purpose of this Summit is to bring like-minded schools together to create, enhance, and promote greater levels of compassion within our school communities...and it starts with the students. Involvement in such an endeavor might be an awesome focus for a student government group, club, or service organization to promote.
At the upcoming NESA FLC, we will be hosting a one-hour information session outlining the details of the Compassion Summit. This is not a NESA sponsored event but we hope you will prioritize time to attend and/or send a representative from your school to learn more.
