The NESA Board
Guiding NESA’s strategic direction through shared stewardship and mission-aligned vision.
NESA’s Board of Trustees is made up of nine Heads of NESA Member Schools, along with the ex officio Regional Education Officer from the U.S. State Department’s Office of Overseas Schools. These dedicated educators serve as thought partners and strategic guides to the organization.
Grounded in Theory U – a systems-based change framework developed by MIT’s Otto Scharmer – the NESA Board embraces awareness-based leadership and systems thinking to remain attuned to emerging possibilities, asking “What wants to happen next?”. This forward-looking stance informs NESA’s work at every level.

The NESA Board in Washington, DC, at its winter meeting, February 2025: (l-r), Paul Richards, Michelle Remington, Thomas Cangiano, Colin Boudreau, Roxanne Giampapa, Joelle Basnight, Mike Emborsky (Office of Overseas Schools REO), Maddy Hewitt (NESA Executive Director), Bonetta Ramsey, Rose Puffer, and Devin Pratt.
