ONLINE

Join fellow NESA educators as we work towards building inclusive school environments and a culture of safety, equity, and belonging.

The three online collaborative meetings will structure your learning and development:

SESSION 1

We open with a refresher on foundational gender-based language and concepts before moving into a conceptual framework that we will use throughout the course. The peer-reviewed framework, developed by Dr. Emily Meadows, serves as a practical tool for conscientious educators to sensitively and intentionally address belonging in their school. We also examine potential barriers and supports to this work specific to the NESA region.

SESSION 2

Using case studies from international schools, we practice applying the conceptual framework from Session 1 to consider how you might address complex questions around gender-based belonging in your context. Participant input and strategy is balanced with recommendations and practical tips from Dr. Meadows.

SESSION 3

Our wrap-up session invites you to take on a more independent role in decision-making opportunities around gender-based belonging by examining ‘real world’ cases that are currently coming up in a number of international schools. You will gain deeper experience in how to address delicate matters on gender within your school community.

Time will be allotted in each session for Q&A with Dr. Meadows.

OUTCOMES

      • Build connections and community with fellow NESA professionals.
      • Receive ongoing guidance and support around matters of gender in the NESA region.
      • Be equipped with scaffolds, strategies, and tactics to build gender-based safety and belonging at your school.
      • Stay current with the latest relevant developments and best practices.

Participants will earn a NESA Certificate of Participation.

EXPECTATIONS

Participants who commit to actively participating in all of the sessions will benefit the most from this course.

      • Engage with potentially challenging content through a growth-oriented mindset.
