NESA 2026 LEARNING FUTURES SUMMIT: COMPASSION IN ACTION
SUMMIT DAY 1: FRIDAY, MARCH 27, 2026
On the first day of the NESA 2026 Learning Futures Summit, all delegates (educators, students and chaperones) will take part in an Immersion Experience rooted in the American School of Bombay’s (ASB) Community and Social Responsibility (CSR) program – ASB’s long-standing service learning model.
During this day, delegates will engage directly with community partners across Mumbai who are working to address pressing social and environmental challenges. These experiences may include:
- Initiatives focused on equitable access to education, literacy and reading
- Animal welfare
- Arts-based learning
- Social-emotional learning among elementary schoolers
- Environmental issues such as rising sea levels in Mumbai
Through interaction and guided reflection, participants will build connections with communities and gain a deeper understanding of the local Mumbai context.
The experience is designed to be safe, structured, and deeply purposeful, supporting students and educators in translating compassion into informed action.
The Immersion Experience is included in LFS26 registration; lunch will be on the road.
Learning Outcomes
Participants will:
- Build awareness of social and environmental challenges in and around Mumbai
- Develop agency, skills, and dispositions needed to contribute positively to change
What do we mean by “service”?
The LFS26 Immersion Experience aligns with ASB’s CSR goals to create sustainable, authentic, and respectful service-based experiences.
At ASB, service is not charity or one-time volunteering. It is learning with and alongside communities, grounded in empathy, reciprocity, and reflection. Participants will listen, collaborate, and engage thoughtfully, recognizing community strengths while considering how their actions can contribute responsibly and ethically.
