U Theory Preconference, October 19, 8:30-4:30
Learning and Applying the U Theory: A New Way of Planning
This workshop is intended for leaders who are either unfamiliar with the U Theory or have heard something about it and are interested in learning more.
According to Otto Scharmer, Senior Lecturer at MIT and author of Leading from the Emerging Future, “shifting from reactive responses and quick fixes on a symptom level to generative responses that address system root issues is the most important leadership challenge of our time”.
This workshop will address fundamental questions about the U Theory including:
- What is it?
- Why is it particularly relevant at this point in time?
- What are the origins of this work?
- And what are the key elements of the process?
Participants will gain a conceptual understanding of the process and also apply elements of the process to a leadership challenge they are currently facing in their own life context. The result will be a deeper understanding of how to improve their quality of intention and attention to any leadership challenge they may face going forward.
- Preconference fee: US $125 (includes coffee breaks and lunch)
- How to Sign-Up: Please register for the Fall Leadership Conference via the online registration form (as a member, affiliate or non-member), and check the appropriate box under the heading 'Pre-conference Registration'. (Note: All preconference participants must also be registered for the Fall Leadership Conference itself. Thank you.)
