The Brain, the Breath & the Heart (BBH)
“Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.” ~Aristotle
"Educating the mind and heart without including the breath is missing the golden link." ~BreathLogic
Objectives: Understand and learn how utilizing our breath can change our brains to. . .
- Calm oneself and others
- Heighten concentration
- Strengthen executive functions
- Develop empathy and compassion
- Become stress-resilient
"The Brain, the Breath & the Heart (BBH)" serves educational leaders, teachers and students, integrating evidence-based benefits of mindfulness, Social Emotional Learning (SEL], Neuroscience, and the practices of “Breath Literacy”. Breath Literacy is knowledge of how to breathe for heightened personal wellbeing, optimal learning and academic achievement. Breath Literacy enhances school culture, creating a productive, happy, healthy environment in the office, the meeting room, the classroom and the hallways.
You will learn, first for yourself, then to easily incorporate into school-based routines: knowledge and practices from ancient wisdom and contemporary science. A distinguishing feature of BBH is the incorporation of techniques for breathing optimally to best harness our body’s and brain’s most valuable nutrient — oxygen.
Studies show students’ well-being is directly linked to their teacher’s well-being. Research on mirror neurons suggests that one person’s nervous system can manage another’s. The more grounded and balanced the educator, the more grounded and balanced the students, leading to an optimal learning environment.
This workshop will allow participants to connect body, breath, mind and heart for enhanced personal and academic benefit.
Target Audience: Applicable to all.
Continuum Levels: All
