DAILY KEYNOTES

Inspiring the Conference Experience

The Role of Education in Developing Conscious World Citizens

The world turns and we must adapt. Due to unfortunate circumstances, Spencer Wells is unable to attend the NESA Fall Leadership Conference to give our opening keynote – on adaptation!

Thanks to the professional generosity of Peggy Pelonis, David Gleason, Jamie Steckart and Julia Tokatlidou, we will still experience a dynamic opener that will fit in beautifully with our conference theme of Adaptive Change and Human Potential.

Though it arose out of necessity, we can think of no better way to set the tone for our 2019 FLC. We look forward to seeing you at the Opening Plenary on Thursday, to launch four great days of learning together!

ROBERT KEGAN

The Deliberately Developmental Organization (DDO): Messengers from the future?

Robert Kegan of Harvard University will bring us to our modern era, offering insights into adult change as it relates to organizational life. Dr. Kegan will share findings from his research with Lisa Lahey, offering us an opportunity to learn how schools can become Deliberately Developmental Organizations, and achieve better results by growing "An Everyone Culture."

CAROLYN McKANDERS & OCHAN POWELL

Diversity as a System Driver: How can we unlock the potential of individuals and the community by embracing difference?

Carolyn McKanders and Ochan Powell will examine why individuals and groups refrain from the learning opportunities available to them and remain under-served. How do we communicate to others that they are valued when their cultures are different from our own?

EXTENDED PLENARY

Making Sense of It All: Human Change, System Impact, Deep Learning

You won't want to miss the culminating plenary, where our panel of distinguished speakers, Robert Kegan, Jeff Clanon and Ellen Mahoney, will share insights and connections among the conference themes.

In this interactive session, school leaders will be invited to engage in thought partnerships to crystallize their NESA learning experience.
