Internationalism ≠ Cosmopolitanism
As international schools continue to develop and evolve their understandings of what it means to be ‘international’, a host of terms and concepts have been used to drive whole-school change and improvement. Examples of these terms and concepts include multiculturalism, interculturalism, internationalism, transnationalism, transculturalism, and global citizenship/cosmopolitanism. However, these terms and concepts, though co-existing, are not interchangeable and are conceptually distinct.
Which one should schools use as a launching pad?
In this diagnostic, solutions-focused workshop, participants will analyze key terms and concepts to help decide what it means for their respective schools to be ‘international’ and/or which framework to use to drive change and improvement towards becoming ‘international’.
Please bring your laptop/tablet to this workshop.
