In Memoriam: Dr Richard Krajczar
November 23, 1943 - February 19, 2019
It was with deep sadness the international school community learned of the sudden passing of Dr Richard Krajczar on February 19, 2019. “Dr K.”, as he was fondly called, was serving his 23rd year as Executive Director of EARCOS (East Asia Regional Council of Schools), NESA’s sister regional organization in East Asia. For a time (2005-2008), Dick simultaneously also took the helm of AAIE (Association for the Advancement of International Education), impacting educators and students globally.

Although he spent the latter part of his international career in East Asia, in 1972 he began it in NESA! His first overseas posting was as Principal at the American International School of Kabul, Afghanistan, then as Head of School at the American Community School, Amman, Jordan, and at Damascus Community School, Syria. He then went on to lead the International School of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Dr K. joined the NESA Board of Directors in 1979, and served as Board President from 1982-1989. His leadership helped shape NESA into a world-class organization serving thousands of educators and students.
With his open heart, big smile, and warm humor, he embodied the famous “NESA Spirit”, and remains an example to all of professionalism, wise leadership, generosity and kindness.
