ROBIN FOGARTY, PhD, is President of Robin Fogarty & Associates, a Chicago-based, minority-owned, educational publishing/consulting company. Her doctorate is in curriculum and human resource development from Loyola University of Chicago.
A leading proponent of the thoughtful classroom, Dr Fogarty has trained educators throughout the world and has taught at all levels, from kindergarten to college, served as an administrator, and consulted with state departments and ministries of education in the United States, Puerto Rico, Russia, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Great Britain, Singapore, Korea and the Netherlands.
She has published articles in Educational Leadership, Phi Delta Kappan, Middle School Journal, and the Journal of Staff Development. She is the author of From Staff Room to Classroom, Supporting Differentiated Instruction: A PLC Approach, How to Teach Thinking Skills Within the Common Core and A School Leader’s Guide to Common Core.
In related efforts, as an avid advocate of skills for 21st Century Schools, Dr Fogarty contributed a chapter to 21st Century Skills: Restructuring How Students Learn. Her latest book is Invite! Excite! Ignite! 13 Principles for Teaching Learning and Leading, and she is writing a piece on teaching thinking with the Theory of Knowledge Framework for International Baccalaureate Schools.
