NESA Statement on Inclusion

At NESA, inclusion is integral to who we are and to how we approach professional learning. Our community includes educators from many national, cultural, and professional backgrounds, and this diversity strengthens us and deepens our collective understanding. Differences are respected, every voice matters, and collaboration truly is the cornerstone of our success.

Our work is guided by the following principles:

Respect, Integrity & Trust

Professional learning communities thrive when grounded in mutual respect and trust. NESA establishes spaces that support open dialogue, thoughtful inquiry, and constructive engagement across differences.

Belonging in Professional Spaces

People learn best when they feel welcomed and valued. NESA upholds environments – in person and online – where participants are able to contribute meaningfully and authentically.

Differentiated & Responsive Learning Design

NESA supports varied entry points, perspectives, and approaches within its programs, recognizing the diversity of professional roles, contexts, and experiences across our region.

Cultural Context & International-Mindedness

Our community reflects a wide range of cultural and national backgrounds. NESA values international-mindedness and designs programming that acknowledges context while advancing shared professional purpose.

Coherence Across Identity & Practice

Inclusion is not an isolated feature of programming. It is embedded in how NESA approaches curriculum, facilitation, collaboration, and community-building.

NESA Website Accessibility

NESA is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to all members of our community and to visitors from across our region and beyond. We strive to create a digital environment that is welcoming, inclusive, and easy to navigate.

In support of this commitment, the NESA website has been developed in alignment with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0. These standards provide guidance for making web content accessible to people with disabilities and user-friendly for all.

WCAG identifies three levels of accessibility – A, AA, and AAA. NESA has adopted Level AA as the target standard for our website.

While we have made every effort to meet this standard, accessibility remains an ongoing effort. If you encounter any accessibility barriers or areas for improvement, we welcome your feedback at nesa@nesacenter.org.
