Program Overview

The Truman Group is once again offering a series of remote consultation groups designed to support counselors in their roles through peer support, clinical consultation, and continuing education – helping counselors refine their skills in providing school-based mental health interventions.

Each group will be led by an experienced, licensed Truman Group clinician, who will facilitate meetings, provide clinical consultation and guidance, and offer didactic instruction.

Groups will include approximately 6–8 international school counselors. Participant spots are limited, and we expect the program to be oversubscribed.

What to Expect

Peer-to-Peer Support: Provide and receive support from colleagues who share similar roles and responsibilities in international schools. Consultation groups offer a trusted space for community, sharing, and collegial support.
Clinical Consultation & Referral: Engage in case consultation with colleagues and group leaders, presenting cases to solicit clinical guidance, problem-solving, and support.
Didactic Psychoeducation & School-Based Intervention: Develop and refine case conceptualization and clinical skills through peer-to-peer consultation and instruction from Consultation Group leaders.
Professional Development Seminars: Participants will have the opportunity to attend professional development seminars focused on practical clinical skills that may be used in school settings.

Participants who attend at least 75% of scheduled meetings will be eligible to receive a Certificate of Participation from the Truman Group.

WHO IT'S FOR

School counselors and psychologists at NESA Member Schools.

SCHEDULE

Groups will meet online for 90 minutes every other week throughout the school year.

Details about group placement and meeting times will be shared after participation is confirmed.

Participants are expected to prioritize this work and commit to attending regularly.

REGISTRATION

Offered at no cost to NESA Member Schools.

Participation is limited and granted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Truman Group

The Truman Group provides psychological counseling for a broad range of issues, including anxiety and depression, trauma, grief and loss, maintaining sobriety, relationship issues, life transitions, and anger and stress management. Their clinicians specialize in working with adolescents and children as young as ten, and frequently coordinate with schools and other health care professionals involved in supporting children and teens.
